   HOW DOES IT WORK?

When you reach out to me, I get to know your specific goals. I learn about your unique experiences and skills from our initial contact and from your CV or résumé. If working on a career document, I return a mark-up of draft 1 via email with personalized feedback, advice, and suggestions for clarifying and tailoring your message. Around that time we also CONNECT (via phone where I call you—FaceTime, Zoom, or Skype are also possible) to focus on draft 2, which I also review. I am genuinely invested in helping my clients; unlike other résumé services, I always take time to give follow-up feedback, to answer your questions, and to offer ideas for successful next steps based on your goals.

That's where I come in. As someone who loves to help others find effective ways to describe their career experience and projects, interests, or goals, I can assist you in crafting career documents that get noticed.

As a career advisor, I have worked with hundreds of individuals in music. Most recently, I oversaw the Office of Careers and Professional Development at the Eastman School of Music, assisting talented graduate music students and alumni in all areas of study. Many have gone on to secure exciting and fulfilling positions in teaching and higher ed, performance, arts administration, and special internship programs. Having recently relocated, I continue to offer the same professional services to all musicians, from new grads to seasoned professionals, entirely online.

It is my goal to help you better recognize and convey your unique skills, perspectives, and experiences. In career document consultations, we work together to shape and edit cover letters, résumés, and supporting materials that accurately and effectively reflect your fit for a position. We will pinpoint language to communicate the dedication and value you bring to your work or research. The result: focused, genuine materials that are much more engaging and memorable.

Whether you want a comprehensive review or simply a fresh pair of eyes on one document, I offer a structured approach to assess your application along with clear steps to improve the presentation of your ideas. I can also provide suggestions for content and formatting and point you to excellent resources including sample documents. In every stage of consulting, I offer insights to help you tailor your materials for different positions and settings. We will discuss key impression management tricks and I will recommend steps for a successful application action plan.

Because highly professionalized documents often result in getting requests for interviews, I offer strategic interview prep sessions which can include a mock interview. In these invaluable sessions, we workshop through content for effective answers and practice approaches for delivery.

Let me help you navigate the application process so that you can soon give your attention to making an impact in your new role. Isn't it time to invest in yourself to achieve the future you have been envisioning?

My current rate is $125 per document. This includes a review+response+connect as well as a free follow-up review+response. Interview prep sessions are $100 (up to 90 minutes in connect mode plus a written response).

Consultations are scheduled based on availability with special attention given to application deadlines, within reason.
